2019 Outdoor Display Facts

Here are several facts about the display.  We hope you enjoy them and learn a little more about Lake Victoria Lights.
  • Two more controllers have been built and will bring the total channels up to 352 for 2019.
  • For Christmas 2019, The expected number of Christmas lights will total approximately 27,000. Assuming I have them all out.
  • A 32' ladder is used to install the tree towers.
  • There are 16 mini trees with Red/Green/Blue/White led strings which run in a semi circle in front and to the left of the Mega Tree.
  • In 2011 the large Mega Tree was increased in height from 15' to 20' tall (top of the star).
  • The large Mega Tree diameter was increased approximately 4' and lengthened to 24' tall in 2014.
  • The large Mega Tree's base was modified to make installation easier.
  • For 2019, the large Mega Tree's height was decreased in height from 24' to 23' in order to make the setup a LOT safer. Now I can hang the lights from the ground before pulling them up the tree instead of climbing up and down a step ladder 48-64 times, where I had to stand on the top rung to hang them.
  • In 2017, the Spiral wrap tree was completed (12-22-17). As of 2019 still tryin to get sequences programmed/modified to take advantage of it's spiral effects.
  • The shooting star display (when completed) will have a span of 100' from the air to the ground. And it still hasn't materialized as of 2019.
  • In 2018, a blowup Snowman (why?) was purchased. He's on the basement floor while I'm trying to devise his deflating ability.
  • There are 18 - 16 channel controllers with 288 total standard channels. 5 other controllers are also in process of being configured for future shows. This year. Questionable.
  • The new controllers will be utilized as follows. 1 for Felix the talking / singing christmas tree. 2 for the planned arches. 1 for rgb flood lights.
  • The display is ran from a Showtime Director controller located inside the house.
  • While visiting the display, the music can be heard on 100.1 FM through the use of a low power FM transmitter kit I built.
  • The display takes about 1 (million) warm weeks for setup and 2 (million weeks) if cold..... : )
  • Synchronizing the display has probably consumed 400 hours.
  • Prior to 2010, when all lights were on at 100% intensity, 8000 watts (80 amps) of power were being consumed.
  • The electricity consumption was drastically reduced with the addition of LED's. As of 2017 calculated amperate is about 15 amps TOTAL.
  • The display has 11 circuits dedicated to the Christmas lights.
  • With all of the extension cords and other wire, the total wiring, if stretched end to end, would nearly reach Lainsburg - about 1.5 miles away.
