2024 - Time Flies When Your Having Fun!
This blog serves two purposes. I've been asked to post the details of setting up the show on a day to day basis. It also functions like the oganizer in my pocket. The organizer holds my brains, so when my brain is not working, I can reach in to my brain and recall what ever it is I'm trying to remember. This blog does nearly the same thing. It also lets me know how much time I spend making the smiles when the "Lignts are On". If you find anything interesting that you would like me to expand on, just send an email. Sorry I don't do facebook.
Where the time goes is beyond me. Just beware if your thinking of retiring and that you'll have lots of time on you hands, your about to have a big let down!.

10/16/24 - Wednesday. What a crazy past week. Finally got the show up and running on Wednesday the 9th. A few issues but all in all went pretty well. Managed to get away for a few days to check out the fall colors in the UP. Only to have the server crash while gone. Just made it operational again a couple of hours ago. Sure was nice having this warm weather. Made setting the wiring / electronics / controllers etc, up enjoyable.
So as I sit here I see the show just started. 6:00pm on the dot.
Additional notes to myself. Get the documentation up to date before I forget the changes made this year. Get the sequences modified to kick off the lighting for the fixed props like the spider web, witches kettle, firelog, scarecrow. Drill the holes for the fogger piping. Replace the Triac for singing pumpkin #8. Watch Ghost light #1 for any more false triggering in the middle of the night.
10/15/24 - Monday. The light show fizzled out. Took about an hour to figure out. Of course it was pizza night so that delayed getting it going.
So your dying to know what I have to contend with and want caused the outage for the whole night? The main signal wire running from the Showtime Director up to the garage was a meal for either mice or chimpmunks. Interesting to note that I've taught 61 chipmunks how to swim this year. While I was sitting in the garage in my foldup chair fixing the wire I saw a mouse run by. So I got up and grabbed a couple of pecans to bait the traps. As I was putting a new connector on and I'm sure less than 45 seconds I heard a snap. Sure enough, caught that booger. Always something.
Started the show this year on Setup started Saturday and is 70% complete. Should be up and running in 2-3 days.
